Hard Crash Ends Chad Finchum's TMS Outing

Justin, Texas (04/07/18) A great start to the weekend for Chad Finchum at Texas Motor Speedway took a disappointing turn for the worst, when he was turned into the wall halfway through the event.

He was thankfully uninjured after the hard hit, but the same couldn't be said for his MB Motorsports No. 40 SmithBilt Homes/ Toyota Camry.

"We had a great car - no doubt the best I've had so far in NASCAR Xfinity competition," Finchum said. "However, things took a bad turn when we got turned into the fence. It was the hardest hit I've ever taken, but thankfully I'm ok. I really appreciate everyone who called, e-mailed, and texted to make sure that I was ok. It really meant a lot."

In practice for the My Bariatric Solutions 300 Finchum posted the 27th fast time on the board, which gave the team high hopes.

Moving onto qualifying Chad registered the 26th-fastest time to lock into the 26th-starting spot for the 200-lap affair. It marked his best-career starting spot thus far into his NASCAR Xfinity career.

Early in the race Finchum's day was looking great as he advanced to mid-pack. Unfortunately, things changed quickly just before the end of stage 2. Chad was turned into the turn one fence by another competitor. The vicious wreck destroyed the car and ended the team's outing in the 34th position.

"It was a bad deal for sure, but it happens in racing," Finchum noted. "I'm really excited to move onto Bristol Motor Speedway, where i'll compete in both the NASCAR Xfinity Series and Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series. This is a dream come true and I'm very thankful for the opportunity."
