June 30, 2018 - Oil Pump Belt Issues Sideline Finchum at Chicagoland
1Chad Finchum's venture in the Overton 300 at Chicagoland Speedway (Joliet, Illinois) came to a disappointing, early end on Saturday afternoon. The culprit of his premature departure on the steamy afternoon was oil pump belt failure.

"We worked hard all weekend to get to where we needed to be on like lap 20 or so we lost power and pulled to the pits," Finchum recollected. "We discovered we had lost an oil pump belt, and that eneded our day. We're really disappointed, but I'm super stoked to get back to Daytona next week."

Chad qualified 34th fastest on the grid for the event, which was held in sweltering heat on Saturday afternoon. Finchum found his day end quickly with the mechanical malfunction lap 23. He was credited with a 38th-place finish in the final rundown.

June 17, 2018 - Chad Finchum Competes at Iowa Speedway
1Newton, Iowa (06/17/18) - Chad Finchum returned to action over the weekend at Iowa Speedway in his MB Motorsports No. 40 Smithbilt Homes Toyota Camry.

The Tennessee racer continued his recent momentum with a 26th-place finish in the American Ethanol 250 at Iowa Speedway.

Finchum qualified 29th on the grid for the 250-lap affair on a hot Sunday afternoon in Iowa.

Chad ran in the Top 30 throughout the event and looked to be on his way to a 24th-place finish before a right-front flat tire with 40 laps sent him into the turn one wall. Finchum would be able to continue, but with a broken sway-bar arm heim joint he didn't have drive off the corners.

He would still manage a 26th place finish, which marked his fourth Top-30 finish in the last four races.

"We keep making small gains on this car, and even with the blown tire we had a great outing at Iowa," Finchum said. "We'll enjoy the upcoming weekend off before heading to Chicagoland Speedway on June 30."

June 9, 2018 - Chad Finchum Battles Adversity to a 29th-Place Finish in Michigan
1Chad Finchum competed in the LTi Printing 250 at Michigan International Speedway over the weekend in his MB Motorsports No. 40 Smithbilt Homes Toyota Camry.

It was a tumultous start to Finchum's debut weekend at the facility with the team losing an engine in practice and then qualifying being rained out.

With a new crew chief Chad started 36th on the grid for the event. Throughout the race Finchum made gains and raced to as high as the 24th position before ultimately being credited with a 29th-place finish in the event, which was shortened by rain on lap 91.

It marked the first time in Xfinity competition that he has ever finished on the lead lap.

"Wow, what a weekend for our team," Finchum exclaimed. " With qualifying being rained out, engine issues, a new crew chief, and a new track for me, we had no shortage of challenges in front of us this weekend. We gambled on a pit stop trying to beat the rain while running 24th, and it bit us a bit, but it was still a really good event or us."
